Our Humble Beginnings
Mitch Rogers had been making ice cream bars for friends and family for decades…a hobby enjoyed by him and all on the receiving end of his concoctions. But the dabbling became more during the pandemic days of 2021 when Mitch left his corporate job to be at home with his kids. With an abundance of time suddenly on his hands, he found himself making more and more bars and experimenting with new flavors.
On a whim, Mitch submitted an application for Chatham Farmers Market that summer. He set out to the first market with a handful of Chatham Light Bars and sold 16. Not a bad first day, but not ground breaking either. But word of mouth began to spread. He sold 45 bars the following week, and 80 the next. By the end of that summer, he had expanded his offerings to 6 recipes and had a growing list of hungry patrons. Word was out!
Our Iconic Home
In April of 2022, Mitch purchased Buffy’s Ice Cream, an historic and beloved icon on Chatham’s Main Street. The gingerbread-style cottage, dotted with pink accents, is as much a part of the town as the fish pier and lighthouse. The sign, building and pink bench outside hold countless memories for generations of visitors — all traditions that Mitch is committed to continuing. Handcrafted ice cream, creative espresso drinks, friendly staff and summer memories, are the hallmarks of a visit to Buffy’s. And now, that visit can include a Chatham Ice Cream Bar!
Our Process
Everything – from the dense creamy ice cream to the perfectly par-baked cookies – is made from scratch at Buffy’s by our talented in-house team. We bake, we package, we sell and we keep creating more recipes in the heart of Chatham.
