Over the sand
Before 2007, you could reach the outer end of North Beach the old-fashioned Cape Cod way: let some air out of your tires and drive over the sand, all the way down from Orleans. Camp owners, fishermen and families made the trip every summer.
The Patriots’ Day storm of 2007 cut the beach in two, and now the only way out is by boat. The over-sand trip lives on in Chatham memory, and in this bar.
