Who we are

Chatham Ice Cream Bars makes handcrafted ice cream bars at Buffy’s Ice Cream, 456 Main Street, Chatham, MA 02633. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Chatham Ice Cream Bars and Buffy’s Ice Cream. Questions about your information? Email info@chathamicecreambars.com.

What we collect

We only collect what you choose to send us, plus a little technical information that keeps the site working and safe.

• Contact, event and wholesale inquiries: your name, email, phone number and what you tell us, such as event details or your business name and address.
• Job applications: the information on the application, including your contact details, availability, education, work history, references and answers about work eligibility and driving, plus any résumé or cover letter you upload.
• Newsletter: your email address and when and where you signed up.
• Website feedback: when you leave feedback on the site, your name, an optional email address, your comments, and basic details about your device (such as device type, browser and screen size) so we can see what you saw.
• Technical information: like most websites, our host records basic information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit, for security and to keep the site running. Our spam protection uses a scrambled (one-way) version of your IP address to limit repeated submissions.

How we use it

• To answer your questions and plan events and wholesale orders.
• To review job applications and contact applicants and their references.
• To send the newsletter you asked for. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
• To improve the website using your feedback.
• To protect the site and our forms from spam and abuse.

We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it for advertising.

Who helps us run the site

We use trusted service providers that handle information on our behalf:

• WordPress.com and Jetpack (Automattic): hosting, backups and security.
• Google: maps on Find Your Bar, web fonts, our business email, and Google Drive, where we keep copies of job applications.
• Cloudflare Turnstile: a check on some forms that tells people from bots.
• Anthropic: an AI service our team may use to help draft website text from feedback.
• Our email service, if we send the newsletter through one.

Online ordering (Per Diem) and gift cards (Square) happen on those companies’ own websites, under their privacy policies.

Cookies and browser storage

We don’t use advertising cookies. Our hosting and security services may set cookies needed for the site to work and stay secure. When you leave website feedback, your browser remembers your name and email so you don’t have to type them again; you can clear this in your browser settings at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiries and feedback as long as they’re useful for running our business. We keep job applications for as long as we need them for hiring and any period the law requires, then delete them. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from the newsletter anytime using the link in any email.
• Ask us to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@chathamicecreambars.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Our website isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. Teens who apply for a job with us provide information through the job application; we use it only to consider their application.

Keeping information safe

We limit who can see personal information, keep job applications in restricted storage, and use secure connections (HTTPS) across the site. No website can be perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top.
