Ryder’s Cove
Ryder’s Cove opens off Pleasant Bay in Chathamport, North Chatham. Today it’s best known for its town landing and boat ramp, where shellfishermen, sailors and paddlers head out onto the bay.
The cove takes its name from the Ryder family, one of Chatham’s early families. The Christopher Ryder House near the cove was photographed in 1935 for the Historic American Buildings Survey, which recorded the country’s most important early buildings.
[If there’s a family or local story about the cove you’d like told, send it along.]
